We Believe

We believe that in order to promote our interests in America we need to establish more than Mosques and Islamic Schools in our communities. We feel that there is a need to establish institutions that will serve the social, political and economic needs of our community as well. Such institutions could be in the area of health care, business, finance, social welfare, media, public policy, philanthropy, etc.

Thus far We are promoting the establishment of the following independent programs in the community:

1 Sabeel Food Pantry, providing free food distribution to the needy in Chicago,www.sabeelpantry.org
2 Career Mentoring Program, providing mentoring opportunities for high school & college students with various professional & business mentors in the community.
3 Family First Workshops, bringing together local experts in family counseling & family law, to address issues of spousal relationships, parenting, marriage, divorce & domestic abuse.
4 Voter Education Workshops, addressing the political issues of the day at the time of national & statewide elections to help community members make a more informed choice at the ballot boxes.
5 Money Matters Workshops, to promote essential financial literacy in matters of cash/credit management, home & college financing, strategies for wealth building, wealth protection and estate planning.

We realize that knowledge is power and education is a life long process. Hence education does not end with school or college but continues thru various mediums both formal and informal thru all stages of our lives. By sponsoring and organizing forums, workshops, emails and web pages we hope to serve the educational needs of our neighbors and community members.

Such an education we believe can positively impact on the individual as well as the collective life of the community. We also believe in the axiom that no man is an island and human beings can only reach their fullest potential through networking with others. However networking is a skill also to learn and to practice in order to be beneficial. Providing opportunities for networking is another important aspect of our work and commitment. Empowering people through education and networking hence remains our core mission.

Osama bin Laden

President Obamas statement on the long hunt and the ultimate end of Osama bin Laden brought about by an American elite force authorized by him to do the job, was measured and carefully delivered to calm the concerns of Muslims the world over and at the same time address the sensitivities of all Americans still hurting from the painful memory of 911. It has taken the commitment and the resolve of three different administrations to finally bring to a close this awful chapter in our nation's history.
